A Letter From Mother Earth

If I were mother earth, also known as Gaia, what do you think her message would be on the day to celebrate her?

I believe this would be her words…

Dear Humans,

I hope you have enjoyed the existence of this planet and that life here is bringing you joy.  It is my pleasure to watch all of our little children enjoy life.  I have struggled for years keeping myself at the mercy of our kids as they continue to inflict harm upon me.

I do my best to provide all with my reproductions of fresh food, multiple seasons, water, minerals, etc. yet I continue to feel unappreciated.  My growth for you has been hindered due to this.  I so want to serve you, yet I am struggling to provide for everyone.

My sweet and beautiful humans, do you not realize without me as your provider, you would not be able to have a life here?  All of the other mammals that are here love me unconditionally, they have laid down their life to support me and the humans.  What has made you so disconnected from me?

I have so much knowledge to share with you.  You have become tone-deaf and no longer hear me, yet I have never stopped communicating.  You have become so conditioned to hear a verbal language that you may wonder; how do I speak to you?

Take a moment and step outside or open a window.  I communicate with all of your senses; you can connect with me best when you stop and become present.

You hear my voice in whispers I send with the wind that moves between the branches of a tree.  I sing you lullabies with the sound of a crashing wave, or the rain dropping onto a surface.

You see me in the beauty I share from the blossom of a flower, or the mountains I decoratively dress with white hats.

You taste me in the colorful foods I provide, and in the salty air near the sea.

You smell when you cut open the pineapple that grew from my body, or the fresh smells of lavender and rosemary that I let linger through the air.

You feel me when your body enters into a cool lake, or as I cleanse your body every evening.

I believe each one of your souls have been sent here for a purpose, one that I want to cheerfully support you with.  I often struggle with the guidance I must give nature in efforts to find the balance in survival.  I know this often comes at a loss for the beautiful living creatures who live with me.  I have had to result in these measures for the masses to survive.

Today is a day to celebrate me. This touches me to my core, and I graciously thank you for recognizing me.  While I began forming over a billion years ago, and I have no official date I will grant myself some wishes like it’s my birthday.

#1 I wish, that my balance is restored so I may provide nourishment and life to all who are living with me.

#2 I wish, humans will begin to love and serve me in the way that I have loved and served them.

#3 I wish, all who are here with me begin to love each other and themselves the way I love them.

You are limited to the moments and time that you have with me, I want every day to be a celebration of life.  Allow yourself to reconnect with me, be still and listen to me calling out to you sharing my love and asking for your help.

Mother Earth

“The earth is our mother. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons and daughters of the earth. This we know. All things are connected. Humankind has not woven the web of life.  We are but one thread within it.  Whatever we do to the earth we do to ourselves.  ~Chief Seattle
